Why Free Resources Should Be the Norm in Education

Education shouldn’t depend on what you can afford. But right now, too many students miss out—not because they lack motivation, but because they lack access.

Good tools exist. Plenty of them are free. But they’re scattered, hard to find, or not designed with students in mind. That needs to change.

Free, open-access educational resources can level the playing field. When every student can get the same help—no matter their background—you start to see real progress. It’s not about giving everyone the same path. It’s about giving everyone a fair start.

We’ve accepted for too long that good tutoring, study help, and practice tools are for those who can pay. But what if every student had the same shot? What if support wasn’t tied to income?

This isn’t just about cost. It’s about fairness. If a free resource can help a student understand fractions, write a better essay, or pass a test, why keep it behind a paywall?

Schools can’t fix everything. But as a community, we can start by making knowledge easier to reach. Free resources should be the baseline, not the exception.

This isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity. Let’s stop treating free education tools like a bonus—and start treating them like the default.
