Recruiting Our First Volunteers

Every student deserves support. That idea means nothing without people willing to give their time, energy, and care. That’s why this moment matters—we’ve welcomed our first group of volunteers.

Some are tutoring one-on-one. Some are organizing events. Others are helping build chapters at their schools. What they all share is a clear goal: make it easier for students to ask for help and actually get it.

These volunteers come from different backgrounds, different cities, and different schedules. But they’re showing up—after school, between classes, late in the evening—to give students what they often miss: someone to walk through the problem with them.

This group didn’t just fill roles. They helped shape them. They’ve pointed out gaps, improved the flow of sessions, and reminded us to keep things simple. That feedback is already baked into how we train, how we build, and how we scale.

We also want to introduce someone who’s been making this possible behind the scenes: Tejas Palukuri, our Volunteer Outreach Manager. Tejas is the reason the onboarding doesn’t feel like paperwork. He checks in, follows up, and makes sure volunteers feel heard and prepared. If you’ve joined our team recently, you’ve probably met him already.

Building a team like this takes time. But it also takes trust—especially early on, when things are still a little messy. This first group trusted us. And because of that, more students are getting the support they need.

We’re just getting started. But this is a big step, and we’re grateful for every person taking it with us.
